Krushak Samaj seeks action against revenue staff, land mafia
At the behest of local real estate dalals and the builders, the revenue authorities are converting the kisam of irrigated agriculture land into homestead land, alleged Jeypore branch president of Odisha Krushak Samaj, an affiliated organization of Bharat Krushak Samaj, Biren Mohan Patnaik.
Patnaik, who is a well known veteran Congress leader, also alleged that some acres of irrigated agricultural land situated in Jagannathpur Mouza of Tankua Gram Panchayat under Jeypore tehsil were converted to homestead land by some dishonest staff for which a heavy monetary transaction was made between the revenue authorities and the real estate owners. The local revenue officials are being controlled by land mafia on the direction of a renowned leader of the ruling party, Patnaik again alleged.
The land mafia is purchasing agriculture lands at low prices and after converting it into homestead land they are selling it at higher prices, Patnaik told.
"The local Krushak Samaj appealed and also filed many petitions protesting the transaction before the State Government, local tehsildar, Sub Collector, Collector and even the KBK Administrator Tara Dutt, but no enquiry or action was taken against the offenders yet," Patnaik alleged.
Only Jagannathpur Mouza of Tankua panchayat is not an example, many such agriculture lands were converted into 'Gharabari' in Jeypore tehsil jurisdiction at the behest of a veteran BJD leader, said Patnaik warning that the Government should probe the matter and take the offenders to task or else the Krushak Samaj would hold stir. Among others, working president of the Koraput Branch Krushak Samaj Pratap Madala, secretary Nabin Nayak and organizing secretary Pritish Patnaik were present.
