Dairy farmers on Saturday dumped gallons of milk outside a pasteurisation plant at Basudevpur in Bhadrak district in protest against the dairy plant authorities’ alleged callousness towards them.
Hundreds of protestors locked up Bamul, the pasteurisation plant, and staged a dharna in front of it over the plant management’s refusal to accept their milk on Friday on the ground that the product was ‘substandard’. The Basudevpur police went to the spot to take stock of the situation. However, no Government departmental official visited the protest site to get appraised about the farmers’ plight.
The farmers said that their agitation would be intensified if the pasteurisation plant authorities don’t take any decision in their favour.
