Strong resentment is brewing among the villagers of Bampada over the release of waste water from a major industrial plant here.
The irate villagers on Tuesday blocked the traffic on NH-5 for several hours to register their protest. They were pacified with the intervention of the Remuna Tehsildar.
The villagers allege that the effluents of Birla Tyres are being released in their lands, for which cultivation in their crop fields has been badly affected.
They also alleged that their grievances are yet to be addressed although they have been facing the problem since 20 years and despite their complaints to several concerned authorities, including the company management, the district administration, the Pollution Control Board and the Chief Minister.
