Hundreds of farmers of Nuapada district under the leadership of the BJP on Monday demonstrated in front of the Collector’s office demanding payment of input subsidy and insurance.
The farmers came to the Collectorate in a procession shouting slogans against the State Government. “When the farmers of Nuapada district are mourning over their dying crops, the administration is in Kumbhakarna’s sleep. Nonpayment of input subsidy and insurance has forced the farmers to enter into vice of loan trap. When will the administration awakeIJ” asked BJP State president Basanta Panda.
The NH-353 in front of the Collector’s office remained blocked for more than two hours due to the gathering of farmers on the road. As the Collector was not present in the headquarters, the ADM received the memorandum submitted by Panda.
Party leaders Sanjay Tiwari, Jadumani Panigrahi and Khamsing Majhi were present.
