The Odisha Chasi Suraksha Abhijan, an organisation to protect the interest of farmers, has demanded opening of a tehsil office at the Gosani block in Gajapati district. In this context, it has submitted a memorandum to the Southern Division Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) here on Wednesday.
“The State Government had formulated a policy to open tehsil office at each block in the State. While it has opened tehsil offices at several blocks in the State, the Gosani block is left to fend for itself,” said Abhijan convener advocate Meenaketan Jena at a press meet here. Due to non-availability tehsil office at the block, the local people are going to Paralakhemundi for their day-to-day revenue work, added Jena.
He further demanded that the State Government take immediate measures to check the people, who drain out water from the Krushna Sagar in the name of catching fish during summer. Due to drain out of water, the local farmers do not able to raise summer crops and the general public including cattle also suffers from water scarcity. Jena cautioned that the local people would resort to agitation if the issues are not met.
