Farmers' body demands BDO, Supply Officer booked

The Chasi Suraksha Manch, Ganjam district branch has demanded that criminal cases be registered against the Polsara BDO and Supply Officer and the Om Rice Mill owner for not paying dues to farmers for long.

“Seven farmers of Nimina and Mala Tentulia had sold 725 quintals of paddy to the Om Rice Mill through the Markfed 16 months back. The mill owner had paid Rs 650 per 75 kg instead of MSP of Rs 1410 per quintal of paddy. Though the farmers have already approached the BDO, the Supply Office and the district Collector to get back their balance dues, no action has been taken yet,” alleged Abihyan convenor Rabi Rath.

Alleging that the BDO, the Supply Officer and the mill owner have misappropriated the farmers’ money, Rath demanded that criminal cases be lodged against them at the earliest otherwise Abhiyan members would be forced to disrupt the functioning of the block office.
