Saturday turned out to be fateful for a farmer couple as they were electrocuted after coming in contact with a live wire at Burupada village under the Hinjilicut police limits in Ganjam district.
The deceased were identified as Heena Samal (65) and his wife Bisnu (55).
Sources said the couple had gone to their farmland at around 4 am to pluck cauliflowers.
They came in contact with an 11-KV live wire that was snapped from an electric pole. Being informed, their son Gouda Samal rushed to the spot and admitted them to a hospital in Hinjili.
However, doctors declared them dead at the hospital.
