An old woman of Krushna Nagar in Jajpur district, who had sustained critical injuries after a ceiling fan fell on her at the SCB Medical College Hospital here on March 8, succumbed to the injuries late on Monday night.
The deceased Parbati Das (75) was earlier admitted to the hospital after she sustained critical burn injuries. The ceiling fan fell on Das while she was undergoing treatment at surgery ward. She was then shifted to the ICU.
Her relatives have lodged a complaint in this regard with police, SCB Hospital Superintendent and State Human Rights Commission (SHRC).An attendant of woman alleged that fan was making screeching noise and matter was brought to notice of hospital staffers. However, no step was taken in this connection.
