Nine persons of Bharuamunda in Sinapali block were injured on Friday due to explosion of two crude bombs planted in the house of Ramsing Naik of the village.
Ramsing, his 12-year-old son Narendra and brother Kamal and another villager Padman Majhi were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital at Nuapada due to their serious injuries.
Ramsing and Kamal have lost one hand each. Primary investigation by the police revealed that the explosion was effected by Ramsing’s eldest son Basant.
"The first bomb might have been fitted somewhere in the door in such a manner that they would explode when the door was opened," said the police.
Kamal later found a torch near the spot, and when he tried to switch it on, it exploded, and within no time different parts of his left palm were severed and thrown to the ground. Six other persons standing nearby were also injured.
Basant has been detained by the police for questioning. "Basant and his father were not in good relation for past few months because Basant had married a dalit girl. Ramsing did not allow Basant to enter into the house after the marriage. This might have been the cause of the aggressive action of Basant," said the police.
