Various Governments have made various plans for development of the farmer community. But farmers have remained a neglected lot as the plans have not been implemented at all. The political leaders and the parties are the real enemies of the State. Hence, farmers should remain united and keep up fighting against rulers and bureaucrats to protect their interests.
This was viewed by many farmer leaders at the two-day leadership training programme organised by the Navnirman Krushak Sangathan at the HDF College, Trisulia in Cuttack on Sunday. Sangathan coordinator Akshaya Kumar moderated the programme.
“Many plans were made in the past but the fate of producing class of the society like farmers and workers remain unchanged. Now time has come that they get united as an alternative forece,” said former Union Minister Bhajaman Behera.
Noted Sarvodaya leader Shailaj Rabi said the Sangathan should emphasise on creating leaders of work. Sangathan advisor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik said all political leaders and parties have become the main enemy of Odisha. In coming elections, the farmers elect the political party which would commit giving price, prestige and pension to farmers. He said the Navniraman Sanghatha is the only organisation that can create public views against the Government.
Similarly, senior journalist Rabi Das said the ruling BJD was discarded by people of Kalahandi only for being cheated at Mandis and looted by millers.
Similarly, Sanghatahn Odisha Secretary Swaraj Mishra said the Agriculture Budget introduced by the Government has nothing for farmers’ development. He said the allocation made for irrigation is so miserable that that can be insufficient to meet repairing cost of embankments. Among others, Sangathan committee members Prasanna Kanhar, Umakant Bharat, Anuradha Subuddhi, Durga Prasad Dash, Nimain Ray, Manwar Alli, Sachin Mohapatra and Madhumita Samal were present.
