The Bisra police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including two SIM card dealers of the district, in connection with an extortion demand case. Police also seized some fake identity cards, 10 active SIM cards issued in fake names and a few forged rubber stamps from them.

Sources said Rohit Sahu, a businessman of Sorada, had lodged a complaint in the Bisara police station informing that he had received a telephonic call from a person who identifying himself as a member of Peoples liberation Front of India (PlFI) group demanded extortion money of `50,000 from him.

The police soon conducted an investigation and nabbed a person, Irfan Ansari (29), who is also a native of Sorada, for making the alleged threat call to Sahu. During questioning, Ansari confessed that he was not a member of the PlFI but took its name to extract money from Sahu.

Police later came to know that the SIM card used by Ansari was issued in a fake name. Investigating further into the case, the police arrested two more persons, allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of SIM cards. They are Shraban Sahu(26) and Rehemat Ansari(39).

“Shraban and Rehemat were involved in the fake SIM card trade. We have seized fake documents and SIM card from them. Further investigation is on,” said Bisra PS IIC S Das.
