The Excise Department on Wednesday busted a fake country liquor manufacturing unit in Nua Bhuban village in the district and arrested four persons in this connection.
On a tipoff, a joint team of excise personnel, mobile squad and the Bhuban police conducted a raid and busted the factory which was being run from a house. The arrestees were identified as Laxmidhar Sahoo, Kapila Sahoo and Nandan Kumar Sahoo and his brother.
“The liquor was being supplied to dhabas in the area. Six litres of caramel, 2,000 bottle caps, 4,000 seals, two machines used for bottling and sealing, empty bottles, cartons and a car were seized in the raid,” informed district Excise Superintendent Manoj Kumar Sethi.
“The raw materials used for the liquor were being procured from Kolkata,” added he.
