A spurious ghee manufacturing unit operating at Gabagasta under the Sadar police station in Cuttack city was unearthed by police on Wednesday night.
Acting on a tipoff about the adulteration, a police team raided the place and seized huge quantity of fake ghee, edible oils, machines worth lakhs, and packaging materials bearing logos of various reputted brands.
The owner of the factory was detained by police for questioning while manufacturing unit has been sealed. Adulterated ghee was recently seized in Malgodown area of city. While probing further into incident, police got wind of fake ghee manufacturing unit, sources said.
