Police busted a racket issuing fake Covid negative reports for entry into the Jagannath Temple here and arrested 12 persons, including the mastermind and four devotees, in this connection.Three separate cases have been registered, two at the Singhadwar police station and one at the Kumbharpada PS, in last 12 days. Without revealing names, police disclosed the identities of the accused. Of the four arrested devotees, two are from Madhya Pradesh and another two from Puri district. One more accused is absconding. A devotee from Chhattisgarh is accused of using fake RT-PCR reports. Two others belong to Puri. The prime accused hails from Puri district.Further probe is underway and more arrests are likely in coming days. The Puri Police appealed to devotees not to indulge in such malpractices when coming for darshan of Lord Jagannath.
