Of late, it seems Brahmapur has become the new hub of fake FMCG products in the State. Close on heels of unearthing of a fake packaged water bottling unit, a fake cold drink manufacturing unit was detected in city on Tuesday. Huge stock of adulterated soft drink bottles were seized from the unit at Sukunda village under Sadar police station.
As per reports, the unit was operating without any license. Senior officials informed that soft drinks were being manufactured using some essence and food colours. Despite being a beverage manufacturing unit, there was no mechanism for testing the products.
Police have also seized two truckloads of soft drinks and seven machines from factory. On Sunday,an unit manufacture fake packaged drinking water was unearthed at Laxmi Vihar under Bada Bazaar police station in city.
