In yet another incidence of fake fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturers mushrooming in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate police have unearthed a duplicate cigarette manufacturing unit at Alakar village under Chhatabar panchayat on the outskirts of the city.
The unit’s owner Raja Rao, a native of Ganjam, was detained and the factory was sealed.
The unit was allegedly manufacturing duplicate cigarettes under the brand names of H-10 and H-Star. Sources said H-10 is a cigarette company in Bihar. The unit owner was using inferior-quality materials and manufacturing cigarettes under the aforesaid brand names
The owner of the Bihar-based cigarette company had lodged a complaint with the police in this connection.
During the raid at the unit, the Infovalley police seized cigarettes and gutkha worth lakhs of rupees. Later, the unit was sealed and further investigations were on.
