Cracking whips on fake teachers, the district administration terminated about 10 of them from service. The action was taken against them (teachers) after their certificates furnished during appointment were found fake. They had been recruited under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). Their misdeeds were caught after theauthorities verified the genuineness of their testimonials with theconcerned universities.

District Education Officer (DEO) HK Kandi said, “10 teachers have been dismissed from service after their certificates were found to be fake ones. Further, respective block education officers have been asked to lodge FIR against them.”

“The terminated teachers had submitted certificates of institutions outside States such as Bundelkhand University and West Bengal State University.  During an inquiry by the district project coordinator, SSA, it was found that the certificates were not genuine. The district Collector basing on an inquiry report ordered for their terminationfrom service,” Kandi informed.

Among the dismissed teachers, while eight had submitted BEd certificates of Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, the rest two had furnished certificates of the West Bengal State University. Therecould be more such instances, an official said. The notification for recruitment of teachers was published on September 11 last year. After scrutiny, appointment was offered to 152 teachers in January.

“The selections of teachers were made on merit basis. Therefore, many of them tried to manipulate the degrees. More such cases can come to light even from the teachers who have submitted certificates within the State universities,” said an SSA official. The district Collector on Friday also recommended for legal actions against them.
