Even though the Commissionerate police have launched a massive crackdown against fake daily-use products in Cuttack city and its periphery, the counterfeiters continue to be active.
In a glaring example, police on Tuesday busted a fake cement manufacturing unit in the Jagatpur area and detained a person in this connection. Acting on a tipoff, a team of the Jagatpur police raided the factory and seized huge quantity of adulterated cement and all machinery used for its production. The police also seized several packaging materials with labels of different reputed brands on them.
According to locals, the factory was operating there for the last five years and several people are involved in operating the unit.
