The Commissionerate police have arrested the two accused from Bihar who were allegedly involved in supplying spurious blood pressure medicines to distributors in Cuttack.

Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said on Sunday that the accused Ashok Mishra and Harish Kumar were arrested from Gaya in Bihar on Saturday and being brought to Odisha on transit remand.

According to the police, the duo used to supply Telma 40 and Telma AM medicines to two distributors, Puja Enterprises and VR Agencies in Cuttack. They were supplying the fake medicines without any licence. “Investigation is underway to ascertain whether they were doing business with any other agencies in Odisha,” said DCP Mishra.

The DCP further said police are carrying out a probe to unearth the source point or the place of manufacturing of the aforesaid medicines.

Notably, Drugs Control officials had recently traced that huge cache of Telma 40 tablets and Telma AM tablets distributed to medicine shops in Cuttack was counterfeit under Section-17B (e) of Drugs and Cosmetics Act based on a report received from the original manufacturer, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals.
