BJD leader and former Minister Raghunath Mohanty has demanded extension of the route of a passenger train, which is running between Howarh and Belda, up to Jaleswar. In a letter to all concerned, including the Railway Minister, South Eastern Railways General Manager and Divisional Manager of Kharagpur, Mohanty  said that two trains which run between Howarh and Belda be extended to Jaleswar for benefit of people of both the States, Bengal and Odisha.

Mohanty, who is also the chairman of the Samaj Kalyan Vikash Parishad further said “a notification as well as announcement by the Railway Minister regarding extension of the two passenger trains have been made long back; however, no step has been taken yet”. The people of north Baleswar depend on Howrah and vice-versa for various reasons, besides business. Therefore, the railway authorities must fulfill the announcement made by them, added the BJD leader.
