Extend a helping hand to Covid warriors

Published on:

The pandemic has thrown our life in complete disarray. Thousands are being infected every day. Health care professionals, police personnel, along with bureaucrats, have become tired treating and taking care of them relentlessly.

Hospitals are fully overcrowded and unable to provide beds to the freshly-infected. Hence, Covid has created a crisis man had never faced in his life.  The question is what’s the way out and how we can be of help to the medical community. The best thing is to prevent the people from being infected. Yoga can play a great role in this situation. Amidst extreme turmoil, there is no saying about when this situation will come to an end. Life is never predictable.

During these situations, being too comfortable or luxurious is what will push us to the brink of destroying our own lives. The human being should always be ready to adapt with any kind of change. Hence, it would only be somewhat correct to claim that our future might not be completely unpredictable.

It is but the result of the choices we make in the present while indulging ourselves in the sensual pleasure of the modern worldly life. Now, we all are battling with this destructive enigma, the coronavirus. To determine a better future, our choices should be aligned with our goals and aspirations. In a relatable manner, if we pay heed to our health and body today, in the same way, our future might entail better days, a smiling face and a long life. A famous genius, Albert Einstein rightly said, "A clever person solves problems. A wise person avoids it." True prevention isn't waiting for the bad things to happen; rather, it is preventing bad things from happening at all.

In this case, yoga seems to be the light at the end of the tunnel. We should follow certain yogic techniques in our day-to-day life to bring perfection at our physio-psychological level.

On a regular basis, if we do practise certain techniques like Jala Neti, it will keep our respiratory system healthy and we can breathe properly to enhance oxygenation and maintain vitality.

Similarly, minimum of six rounds of Surya Namaskar will stretch and strengthen each and every part of our body, develop flexibility and circulate the energy throughout our body. With these Pranayam practices, we’ll enhance the vital energy and rejuvenate each and every cell of our body to keep ourselves active and energetic. Apart from this, half an hour of Yoga Nidra practice will develop a sense of tranquility both at the physical as well as mental levels of our existence.

Finally, sitting down for at least ten to fifteen minutes with closed eyes and keeping our back straight, we can experience the inner harmony, balance and peace which are our real identity, our soul. This is how the yogic techniques are absolutely helpful in having a healthy body, mind and spirit starting from the gross aspect of our personality towards the subtler aspect of our existence.

It is always advisable to seek expert advice for more details. Let us stay at home following the Covid guidelines in the safe havens of our residence and make yoga as a part of our lifestyle.
