The killing of Rayagada schoolteacher Itishree Pradhan has brought to fore the infighting within the ruling BJD.
“I suspect some of my party people are trying to defame me. I am ready to face any inquiry,” BJD Koraput MP Jayaram Pangi told reporters while rejecting the allegation made by Itishree’s family members that Pangi was patronising School Sub-Inspector Netrananda Dandsena, the accused in the case of sexual harassment to her.
Itishree was burnt to death allegedly for not withdrawing her molestation case against Dandsena. Pangi, whose lok Sabha constituency includes Rayagada, however, claimed that he was in no way connected with the case.
Though Pangi now complains that some of his party men are trying to drag his name into the case, he is yet to reveal the names of his detractors. Whatever the case may be, the infighting in the BJD is now exposed with Pangi himself revealing it.
