Explain Rout's remark on cops: BJP to CM

Published on:

The BJP on Friday said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should take seriously of his Ministerial colleague Dr Damodar Rout’s contention, “Make me Commissioner of Police, I shall solve all problems”, and clarify whether he agrees to Rout’s ‘inefficiency’ remark on police.

“Dr Rout’s statement has made it clear that he doesn’t have trust on police. People have rights to know whether the Chief Minister, who holds Home portfolio, has enquired about the reason behind uttering of such a statement by his ministerial colleague. What faults the Commissionerate Police have committed in controlling crimes and what changes Dr Rout want should be enquired about, and the CM should say in public whether he agrees to Rout or not,” BJP State spokesperson Sajjan Sharma said in a statement.

While BJD leaders and MlAs in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are trading charges against each other over their links with notorious criminals, there is every chance of creation of problems in impartial investigations, remarked Sharma.
