Experts join Jagamohan cracks mending

Published on:

The experts set the column stone of the northwest pillar of the Jagamohan of the Shree Jagannath Temple on Thursday. The stone on the pillar on which the roof rests had developed huge cracks and the pillar too had cracks. As per the plan, after the ASI Delhi gave clearance for the repair plan, the cracked stone was confined effectively. Two 25-mm holes were drilled deep into the stones factions and then steel rods reinforced with adhesive were pushed into it making a bond between these two stones. To cement the cracks about 13 kg epoxy resin blended with hardener was pumped into the cracks filling the void.

This apart, steel frame was being constructed to reinforce the stone. Before that, grouting was made to maintain exact shape of the stone. Chemical treatment was being administered on the stone and the stone would be laminated, it is learnt.

The scaffoldings raised inside Jagamohan under the roof were being removed to facilitate the Snan Punnima Yatra of deities scheduled for June 20.
