A team of wildlife experts led by Prof Dr Raman Sukumar, Member of Centre for Ecological Sciences, Bangalore, inspected a tusker’s condition at the forest office here.
The elephant was rescued from Tigiria forest with injury three weeks ago and has been kept at the Athagarh forest office campus since then. It was treated there and has been under observation till it gets completely cured and normal. However, there was hue and cry over the pachyderm being left starving and lapses in its care by the authorities.
The team was not satisfied with the condition of the elephant. It found that the food and care given to the wild guest were not adequate. The experts advised Divisional Forest Officer Arun Mishra to leave the pachyderm in Kapilash hills.
