Immediately after the standing committee of Odisha Assembly visited VSSIMSAR (Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research) at Burla, a team of senior doctors from Gynaecology department of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack and Additional Secretary (Health) GG Devta came Burla for further inquiry on death of three mothers after surgery in April.
They discussed with VSSIMSAR Director Prof Sunamali Bag and Superintendent Dr lK Dash. Thereafter, they visited the concerned Gynaecology department and discussed with the doctors including those who treated the patients, sources said. The doctors in the team, Prof Shyama Kanungo, Dr Sujata Mishra, Prof Srikanta Panda, also inspected the facilities available in the department. However, they did not reveal anything about their findings.
