Expectant mom carried on cot in Rayagada

In the absence of a motorable road, an expectant mother of Bada Maribhata village under Kashipur block in Rayagada district was carried on a cot to reach the emergency vehicle that was forced to wait half a km from her home on Saturday.

Manjubati Jhadia (25) complained of labour pain in the morning. Although her husband contacted an ambulance to take her to the Kashipur hospital, the vehicle could not reach the village due to poor road conditions and waited around half a km from it.

Manjubati’s husband with the help of villagers carried her on a cot to the ambulance.

“Manjubati was not the first pregnant woman, who faced the problem due to poor road condition in the village. Many such cases have been reported earlier,” said a local.

Alleging apathy of the district administration, locals demanded immediate steps by the administration to construct of a motorable road to the village.
