Different forums of Brahmapur city led by social activist Sushant Sabat have demanded that an exhibition ground and an indoor stadium be set up in the city.
Representatives of the Mancha Kalakar Sammilani, the Mahan Sangha, the Sishu Bartta, the One India Concept, the Ganjam Zilla Bikash Mancha, the Manab Adhikar Surksha Mancha, the Ganjam Zilla Bikash Mancha organised a meeting here at the Gosain Nuaan Gaon Gundicha temple and urged the administration for basic civic amenities.
Since Brahmapur is regarded as the cultural and commercial hub, still it is being neglected by the Government, said the members.
“We do not have theatres and exhibition grounds in the city. Cultural and literary organisation are facing problem in organising programmes,” said Sushant Sabat.
Since events like Brahmapur Mahotsav, book fairs, Makara Utsav, education fair, Meena Bazar and circus are being organised regularly in the city, an open exhibition ground is necessary, he added.
The State Government has also failed to construct play grounds and enough parks here, Sabat said.
They have demanded a 5,000 seated indoor stadium in Brahmapur city. Among others, Manas Das, Jayanti Padhiari, Bhabani Panigrahi, Pravakar Sahu were present.
