The authorities of the Utkal University and Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) on Thursday postponed their semester examinations due to be held on October 13 and 14 by two days in view of the impending cyclonic storm.
The State Government also advised the Collectors of coastal districts to close down schools if heavy rains persist under the influence of the Cyclone Hudhud. In a letter, Secretary of School and Mass Education Usha Padhee asked the Collectors to use the schools as places of shelter for people of the concerned areas.
She also asked the Collectors to keep the midday meal (MDM) food stocks in the schools for evacuated people. She told them to ask the school authorities to maintain a detailed record of the MDM stock, the expenses of which would be reimbursed by the district administration within 15 days.
