The Vigilance Court Special Judge, Balangir on Thursday convicted former loisinga Tehsildar Bijayini Biswal and sentenced her to undergo two years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) and to pay a fine of `2,000, in default, to undergo two more months of RI, in a case of taking bribe.
Biswal had demanded and accepted illegal gratification of `4,000 from complainant Subal Karan of Dumdumi village in Balangir district for an amicable settlement of a water dispute between him and one Prafulla Patra.
