A Special Vigilance Court here asked the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cuttack, AIG of Police, Vigilance and SP, Vigilance, Baleswar to take over one three-storied building at Ward-20, Bajrakabati Road, Cuttack of former Superintending Engineer,
Irrigation Circle, Baripada Gangadhar Jena. The house is in the name of his wife Gitarani Jena. Gangandhar was convicted in a disproportionate assets case in December 24 last and had been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years. This relates to a case registered against the former SE by Baleswar Vigilance in 2002.
The Special Court, Cuttack had passed an order on January 31 last asking Jena to surrender the three storied building at Cuttack or to deposit the present market price of the property valued at `29.8 lakh. But the property was not surrendered.
