Panic gripped Khudupur village in Jatni on Sunday after a blood-stained body of a former Panchayat Samiti member was found from a playground.
The deceased was identified as Rabi Nayak, a resident of Nimabasantpur village under the Delang police station. He was working as an LIC agent in Jatni for the past few years.
The incident came to the fore in the morning after locals spotted the body lying in a pool of blood with serious head injuries at the playground and called up police.
The Jatni police seized the body for postmortem after reaching the spot.
While an investigation was on, police from their preliminary investigation suspected it to be a case of murder over past enmity.
