The Aul police on Thursday arrested one Ghanashyam Jena, former Principal of Aul College, for molesting a Class-VI girl student at Niala under the Ali police station on August 22.
According to Pattamundai SDPO Umashankar Moharana, the victim girl (13) is a student of the Sahadev Girls’ High School. While she was going alone on a road, accused Jena allegedly tried to lure her for Rs 10 and outraged her modesty.
The girl managed to flee and told the matter to her parents. Soon, the family members of the victim girl went near the house of Jena and assaulted him. On Wednesday, the victim girl’s father lodged an FIR at the Ali police station.
The police registered a case bearing case no 195/16 under Section 354 of IPC and Section 8 of POCSO Act and arrested the accused, the SDPO said.
On Thursday, Jena was produced before court where he was remanded to jail custody.
