Retired IES officer Dr Biranchi Narayan Nanda succumbed to Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at the Army Hospital Research & Referral in Delhi on Sunday.
The 1983-batch IES officer had held various key positions in the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment. He retired from service as the Secretary of the Labour and Employment Ministry last year.
The 61-year-old Dr Nanda had received first dose of a Covid vaccine during his stay in Delhi. But a few days ago, he was admitted to the hospital after being infected with coronavirus. Born in Jajpur district, Dr Nanda was associated with a social outfit ‘Odisha Swabhiman Parishad’ as its president after his retirement.
