The Vigilance Special Court here, while adjudicating a disproportionate assets case on Monday, sentenced former Executive Engineer of Nuapada’s Jonk Canal Irrigation Division Prafulla Kumar Panigrahi to two and half-a-year rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him failing which he would under go another RI for six months.
Acting on a complaint, Vigilance police had conducted simultaneous raids on his residential house and office room at Nuapada, residential house at Tulasinagar, Brahmapur Town and his son-in-law’s rented house in Puri on October 25 and 26, 2000. During searches it was found that Panigrahi possessed disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 10.93 lakh.
