In a daring daylight robbery, a former MLA was reportedly robbed of Rs 2.55 lakh in Nabarangpur district on Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, two bike-borne miscreants fled away with the cash when former Nabarangpur MLA Sadan Naik was parking his car near his petrol pump here.
Naik was going to return with the cash from his petrol pump at Hirli located on the outskirts of the district headquarters while the looters intercepted him. When he stopped his car, the men snatched away the bag and fled the spot before anyone could react.
Following this, Naik lodged a complaint at the Nabarangpur police station. The police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the culprits. No one was arrested till the time of filing this report.
The incident has left the locals fuming over “poor” policing in the area.
