Ex-MP Jena on philanthropic mission

Published on:

Former Baleswar MP Rabindra Kumar Jena, extending help to the poor and downtrodden during the lockdown period, has provided dry rations to as many as 600 auto-rickshaw drivers for the welfare of their families.

Bags containing rice, dal, potato, chuda, gur and kitchen groceries were handed over to the needy.

“After learning that the auto-rickshaw drivers are also bearing the brunt of the lockdown as their livelihood is severely imperiled, the help was extended to them. I am trying my level best to reach out to the most-affected groups and sectors and provide whatever possible,” said Jena. Notably, Jena, in his philanthropic mission, had earlier provided rations to 60 porters at the Baleswar railway station and 450 paddle rickshaw pullers besides helping individuals.
