The problem for former Sanakhemundi Congress MlA Ramesh Jena and his aides seems to have mounted further as a victim, allegedly attacked by them six months back, died in the MKCG Medical College Hospital here on Sunday.
“Earlier, an attempt to murder case had been lodged against Ramesh Jena and four others. As the attacked victim, Arjun Das, died on Sunday, the attempt to murder case turned to a murder case. We will inform this to the court in this regard,” said Brahmapur Town police station IIC Nihar Pradhan.
Notably, some miscreants had attacked Arjun at the Station Bazaar here on January 11. Following this, an attempt to murder case had been lodged against Jena’s aides, Prem Panda, Danda Moharana, Pintu Jena and Jakki on January 12. Jena’s name was included in the case later.
While a case had been filed under Section 307 of the IPC, now, with death of the victim, charges under Section 302 of the IPC would be slapped against the former MlA and four others, said police sources.
