Former MlA and Talcher Sanskrutika Parishad president Bibhudendra Pratap Das has submitted a memorandum to the State Government urging it to develop tourism potentiality in Talcher, Kamakshyanagar and Pallahada sub-divisions.
Due to the apathetic attitude of the State Government and industry bodies working in the area, many ancient temples and tourism places under Talcher, Angul, Kamakshyanagar and Pallahada sub-divisions are lying unattended and undeveloped, Das, who is a former Pallahada MlA and environmentalist, said.
The memorandum submitted to the State Tourism Secretary sought immediate action to construct a ropeway between Dadaraghati and Rasiala irrigation project, ensure peripheral development near Asia’s largest Anant Sayan statue near Saranga, development of Kapileswar Mahadev Temple at Kamakshyanagar, Khuludi and Garjankhola waterfalls in Pallahada among other tourism destinations in the areas.
The memorandum too urged the Secretary to prepare a plan for the development of the famous Hingula pith of Talcher and Jagannath Temple of Angul, Tikarpada site and Derjang irrigation project, besides renovation of the Talcher palace.
“We urged the State Government to prepare an action plan for development of these tourism destinations and send a proposal to the Union Government for more
funds,” said Das.
Das maintained that since Talcher-Angul-Dhenkanal area is a major industrial hub, it is very urgent to take immediate steps for the protection and renovation of ancient temples in these areas to develop its tourism potentiality.
Das too met Works department secretary Nalini Pradhan and urged him to declare the Keonjhar-Kaliahata road as a State highway.
