Former Baleswar MlA and veteran politician Arun Dey sustained injuries after the car in which he was returning from Cuttack met with an accident near Simulia College on NH-5 on Wednesday.
Dey after his initial admission in the Simulia Government hospital was shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Baleswar. He sustained injuries in his head and back. After check-up, he was discharged from the hospital.
Dey said while returning, near the mishap spot, a girl suddenly crossed the road (through the road divider). The driver steered to the left to save the girl. The car hit a road side tree and turned turtle.
After falling off the road, it plunged into a water body. The locals pulled him as well as the driver out from the sinking car, he said.
Following the incident, several people met him and wished his quick recovery.
