Around 700 employees of that Odisha lift Irrigation Corporation (OlCC), who retired voluntarily from the corporation during 2003-04 on Friday staged a demonstration here at Mahatma Gandhi Marg under the banner of the Odisha lift Irrigation Corporation Employees’ Federation demanding immediate release of pension and other retirement benefits.

According to Federation general secretary Ratnakar Mohanty, nearly 6,500 employees of the OlCC took voluntary retirement between 2003 and 04 while 500 other employees retired at the normal age of their superannuation during the same period.

“But the Regional Provident Fund (RPF) Commissioner and the State Government is not giving attention to our plights,” alleged Mohanty.

He alleged that though Rs126 crore has been deposited with the RPF Commissioner for pension purpose, but the OlIC Managing Director mislead the Chief Secretary under whose leadership a high level meeting was taken place last month mentioning that no fund is available with the OlCC for providing

pension.    He further alleged that corporation had wasted about Rs126 crore that was deposited towards the Provident Fund.
