The Boipariguda police have arrested four accused in connection with former Sarpanch Gobardhan Bhumia murder case that had taken place on March 13 last at Mantriamba ghat of Koraput district.

The accused had minor differences with the deceased Sarpanch. Maoists killed a businessman Bapi Samant at Ramgiri on January 7, where a Maoists poster was seen with 12 names written on that as their further target. Two persons Anand Naik and Purna Chandra Nayak alias Phula whose names appeared were horrified and left their village.

As Anand and Purna were Maoist sympathizers earlier so they speculated that somebody must have instigated the Maoists against them. Gobardhan was the former Samiti member from Dandabadi panchayat and a BJD supporter. He also used to be very close to the Maoists, as per sources. Whereas Anand is said to be a Congress worker and his wife was the Naib-Sarpanch of Dandabadi panchayat.

The political differences led to the misunderstanding that Gobardhan is planning get Anand and Purna eliminated by the Maoists. So Anand made a plan to wipe out Gobardhan before Maoists kill them. Anand and Purna hired two local men for this work and agreed to pay them Rs 60,000 for this killing.

Two local men Sadan Barik and Dasarath Machha took the contract and killed Gobardhan with an axe on the morning of March 13 as they have planned. Police arrested all four accused and forwarded them to court.
