The Kendrapada Town police on Friday served a notice under Section 41(A) of CrPC to former District Bar Association president Dhruba Charan Jena for his alleged involvement in illegal sale of 1.4 acres of land of the DS law College.

According to police, one Subrata Sahu had donated 1.4 acres of land at Odisa mauza in the Mirapatana area to the college on August 31, 1987. Jena became the member secretary of the college and sold away the patch of land to a minor community woman by forming the Baladevjew Education Trust in 2002.

Sarat Chandra Sahu, who became a member secretary of the college later, lodged an FIR in the Kendrapada Town PS on October 3, 2014 raising this allegation against Jena.  Police then registered a case against Jena.

Jena soon filed a bail petition before the Odisha High Court. The court then directed the police not to arrest Jena till hearing of the bail petition is completed.

In April 2015, the High Court rejected the bail petition and vacated the order given to the Town police earlier.

The police detained Jena on Friday and later served a notice  to him under Section 41(A) of CrPC, said SP Satish Kumar Gajbhiye.

“Police have started analysing evidence against Dhruba Charan Jena. If found guilty, he would be arrested,” said Gajbhiye.
