BJD Legal Cell’s main advisor and Orissa High Court Bar Association’s former president Gopal Krushna Mohanty joined the Congress in the presence of PCC president Sarat Patnaik on Friday.
Mohanty said he was working with the Janata Dal from 1977 and later in the BJD in a disciplined manner. But now, he has realised that the BJD is no more a political party but has turned into a corporate body. To protect his self-esteem, he decided to quit the BJD. The Congress’ ideals, particularly Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra influenced him.
Along with Mohanty, more than 30 lawyers also joined the Congress.
The PCC president said Mohanty’s joining would strengthen the Congress organisation further.
