The Vigilance court, Baripada convicted the former officials of Gridco in a procurement scam and awarded them RI for one year each. The Vigilance had registered a criminal case against Chhoderam Krishnadu, former Director, Gridco, Gouranga Charan Sahu, former Executive Engineer, Rairangpur Electrical Division, Baripada, Radhakanta Barik, former Accountant, Rairangpur Electrical Division and Girija Shankar Das, proprietor, M/s Classic India Sales and Supplies, Baripada for show of undue official favour for purchasing of different cables at higher rates violating the codal provisions in departmental instructions with criminal conspiracy thereby causing loss to the corporation. Except Girija Shankar Das, the other trio was sentenced to undergo RI for a period of one year and pay fine of Rs 10,000 each. In default, they have to undergo RI for two months.
