Former HoD of English Gangadhar Meher University Prof Sanjay Kumar Panigrahi (64) succumbed to Covid-19 at the Aswini Hospital, Cuttack, after prolonged treatment.
His wife Dr Smita Devi, former principal of GM College and first registrar GM University was also suffering from corona and both were undergoing treatment in the same hospital. But she got cured. His sister-in-law cine artist Aparajita Mohanty gave the Mukhagni at the Satyanagar crematorium in Bhubaneswar as Prof Panigrahi's two daughters are staying in the USA.
The GM University authorities, in a condolence meeting deeply mourned the death of the popular teacher.It needs mention that Prof Panigrahi’s father Kamala Kanta Panigrahi, a retired magistrate, had also died of corona last month.
