Special Judge, Vigilance, Baleswar convicted former Auditor of Soro Block Sridhar Sethi who is presently working as Auditor in Sundargarh in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for two and a half years and pay a fine of Rs8,000. Sethi will have to undergo RI for three months in case of default in payment of fine.
Sethi had demanded bribe of Rs2,000 for passing final bill in respect of construction of Community Creation Centre at Bansapal and had been caught red-handed. In yet another case, Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack convicted Assistant Consolidation Officer, Marsaghai Sarat Chandra Das for illegal gratification Rs500 and sentenced him to undergo RI for a total of three years and pay a fine of Rs3,000 for the offence.
Besides, he has to undergo five months RI in case he defaulted in payment of fine. Complainant Pratap Chandra lenka of Mangalpur under Patkura police limits had said that accused Das demanded a bribe of Rs500 for making correction of some disputed land documents.
A trap had been laid to nab Das on the spot while committing the crime.
