The Khordha district administration on Wednesday started eviction at Jhiinti-based Trahi Achyuta Ashram, which was constructed by arrested soothsayer Surendra Mishra alias Sura Baba on encroached Government land.

The administration began the operation demolishing the post office and hospital. Around 85 decimals of land would be reclaimed by the State Government out of the total 14 acre of land on which the entire ashram and township erected. The other buildings like Dola Mandap and Pothi griha of the ashram constructed over encroached land would also be cleared.

Besides, a road constructed by the godman on Government land and a 15 decimal piece of land, which was used as a dumping ground, would also be reclaimed during the eviction exercise.

The eviction drive at the ashram is being headed by Balianta tehsildar. Adequate police forces have been deployed in the locality to avoid any untoward incident.

“The encroached Government land will be cleared totally. Revenue Inspector will take possession of the land,” said Khordha Sub-Collector Binay Kumar Das.

He said that BDA officials had visited the site and would take appropriate step in future as the entire township inside the ashram premises are constructed violating BDA guidelines. Adequate security arrangement was put in place to avoid any untoward incident.

Notably, Sura Baba alias and his two sons, Trilochan and Biranchi are currently lodged at the Jharpada Special Jail on the allegation of various frauds and encroachment of Government land.
