Street vendors whose shops were demolished during the different eviction drives in the capital city on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) demanding immediate rehabilitation and stopping of further demolition drive. The vendors under the banner of Bhubaneswar Uthadokani Byabasayee Sangha took out a rally from Master Canteen Square and marched towards BMC office reiterating their demand for functioning of Ashoknagar vending zone and stooping collection of rents from street vendors.
later, an eight member delegation headed by Sangha president Sura Jena also met the BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena and submitted a memorandum to him seeking his earlier intervention.
