A large number of transgenders and eunuchs from various districts of the State, including Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Sambalpur, Balangir, Nuapada and Jharsuguda, gathered for observance of a Nabaranga Milan at Town Hall here on Tuesday.

Besides discussing various troubles faced by them, the eunuchs demanded all Government facilities for them to live with dignity in the society. They also demanded that special privileges in educational and political fields be extended to the third genders.

“Though we have been enlisted in third gender category, still we are deprived of all Government facilities,” said transgender activist Manoj Rate. They also pitched for campaigns against various social dishonor faced by them at public places, health-related challenges and legal aspects of sex change.

“We are exposed to social stigmas wherever we go, be it any hospital, public place or educational institute, our presence is always resented.  We aim to change that,” said activist Rajesh Naik.
